ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — The Allegan County Sheriff’s Department says four patients have been transported from a home in Overisel Township due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to the Overisel Fire Department an elderly couple was waiting for carpet workers to show up to their home. Once the carpet workers showed up and before they start working the couple tells the workers that they did not feel well. The workers continue to begin working on the carpet when they become ill and go check on the couple. They are both passed out. The workers pull the couple out and call 911. All Four were transported to the hospital and are expected to recover.
According to the Fire department CO levels were 100 times higher than they should have been and if the carpet workers weren’t there to pull the couple out they would have died.
The cause is still under investigation.
