Most Of The Midwest Free Of Drought

WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — It’s likely no surprise that with all the rain this year, there is no threat of a drought here in West Michigan. Much of the Midwest is in good shape as well.

This map from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows parts of Minnesota and Iowa are in a moderate drought. The rest of the region is drought-free. For a look at the rest of the country, click HERE.

Here is a look at some of the precipitation totals from West Michigan for 2013 so far and the departure from normal:

  • Grand Rapids:  27.13″, 10.25″ above normal.
  • Muskegon:  26.98″, 12.47″ above normal.
  • Kalamazoo: 20.77″, 5.11″ above normal.
