SPARTA, Mich. — A 33-year-old man could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted of robbing a Sparta gas station.
Jason Michael Warfield was charged Monday with the June 22 armed robbery of the Admiral gas station, 206 S. State Street. Police say he entered the store at around 10:10 p.m. and demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk while wielding a knife. He was arrested at a house near the scene after a K-9 unit called in from the Grand Rapids Police Department picked up his scent.
In addition to the armed robbery felony, Warfield was also charged with felony cocaine possession, which could add up to 10 years to his sentence.
