GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Michigan craft beer lovers now have another locally made brew to enjoy and it’s just in time for Summer.
Mittenbrew.com, a website that features news on Michigan craft beers, celebrated its third anniversary by releasing a new beer, Saturday. The founders of the website teamed up with Saugatuck Brewing Company to create a beer called MittenBrew Nutter Berry Wheat. It’s described as a blackberry wheat ale with almond extract. The big release party was held at Logan’s Alley, on Michigan Street in Grand Rapids.
“[We] just kind of wanted to give people a beer that`s likeable by most audiences, that`s why we went with more of a fruity type of beer, something that anyone would like,” said MittenBrew.com co founder, Chris Applett. “We thought we would give that beer that would allow people to be introduced to what craft beer is.”
In addition to Logan’s Alley, the brew will also be available at several bars throughout the state, including 7 Monks (Traverse City), Crunchy’s (East Lansing), The Mitten Bar (Ludington), Derby Station (East Grand Rapids) and Graydon’s Crossing (Grand Rapids).
The company plans to release a different branded beer every year, brewed by a different Michigan brewery. The beer will only be on tap at select Michigan bars.
