ALAMO TOWNSHIP, Mich- A storm with strong winds rumbled through Kalamazoo County Wednesday night, uprooting trees and taking out power lines.
Four barns on one farm were destroyed on D Avenue in Alamo Township.
Resident Ron Cramer says the storm is the worst he’s seen in 29-years of living in the area.
“ It came on very sudden, it came on very loud, the sky was just ablaze with lightening,” he said. “It was like daylight and then the sky turned grey and then the storm came through.”
Cramer and his brother spent Wednesday checking on their neighbors, making sure no one was hurt in the storm. He said one neighbor had a close call.
“There was actually an individual stranded on D Avenue, power lines around their vehicle,” he said.
The power is still out in Alamo Township and residents anticipate it will be days before it returns. They say it will take the entire community and the entire summer to clean up the mess.
