GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With a Game 3 win, the Grand Rapids Griffins are 60 minutes away from their shot at glory.
The Griffins won 4-2 against the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday evening. With the win at Van Andel Arena, the Griffins now have a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series in the Calder Cup Finals.
It was in the second period when the Griffins got on the scoreboard. Tomas Tater made a wrap around goal, his 13th of the playoffs, to tie the game up at 1-1. Then about 2 1/2 minutes later East Grand Rapids native Luke Glendening scores on a rebound off the shot from Danny DeKeyser, taking the 2-1 lead. The Crunch came back to tie the game at 2 around midway through the 2nd period. Then with 4:49 left in the 3rd period, Jan Mursak scored the 3rd goal. Jeff Hoggan added the final goal of the evening with 2:28 left in the game.
The attendance for the game was 10,102. The largest AHL Playoffs crowd in Griffins’ franchise history. Game 4 will be played at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in Grand Rapids.
