GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — There is a plan to remove a large dumpster from the Grand River, according to Grand Rapids deputy city manager Eric DeLong.

The dumpster has been lodged in the river near the Bridge Street bridge since the flood in April.

At Tuesday morning’s city commission meeting, DeLong explained that the “flow” and “conditions” of the river must be just right before crews try to dislodge it.

He said the dumpster is too large to lift out river from over the bridge. Instead, crews will empty water from it, then hook a cable to it and pull it out.
