The Grand Rapids Public Schools math teacher accused of having sex with two male students who were in her class at the University Prep. Academy in Grand Rapids was arraigned in Wyoming District court Monday.

Jamila Williams appeared for the two felony arraignments at around 9:00 am.  She turned herself in and was arrested and booked in the Kent County Jail last Thursday.

Detectives said earlier in court documents that Williams admitted to having sex with a 15 and 16-year-old in various locations around the city including a park and an alley.

A couple of the instances of sexual contact reportedly took place in her car, near the victims’ homes.

Williams had her face in her hands after she was finished approaching the judge and had officially heard the charges against her.

She was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

Williams’ case was transferred to Wyoming District Court for arraignment last week.

Her mother is an assistant city attorney in Grand Rapids and likely knows many of the judges in 61st District Court in downtown Grand Rapids.

Her family ties may  have been the main reason for that transfer for arraignment.

If bound over, the case will likely return to downtown Grand Rapids for circuit court proceedings.

Investigators have been looking into the possibility that there are more victims in this case.
