PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the body discovered two days ago in Lake Macatawa has been identified as Barbara Westveer, a 55-year-old Park Township resident.
Westveer was reported missing by her husband on May 29 after she failed to show up to a noon appointment. The autopsy showed that the body sustained no traumatic injuries, and the cause of death will be determined by a toxicology report in approximately one week, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
A person on a Jet Ski saw the body floating on the north side of the lake at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, but according to Holland Coast Guard Chief Eli Paquette it could not be identified at the scene.
