This year’s Iris Show will highlight both new and old varieties of irises. Enjoy some of the newest hybrids of this beautiful plant species, all grown by iris enthusiasts in the West Michigan area. Pose questions to Grand Valley Iris Society and learn quick tips for growing your own irises. Iris floral arrangements will be on display and guests are invited to vote for their favorite. There will also be a free iris-inspired activity for all children attending the show from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
There are approximately 300 species of the iris. The name is derived from the Greek word for rainbow, which reflects the endless array of colorful flowers produced by the species.
