GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell will be back on his bike today for the 2013 Mayor’s Bike Ride.
The event includes the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Alger Bikes, and the Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition, and is meant to get people familiar with the Grand Rapids bike trail system.
The event starts at the Kroc Center and will continue to Plaster Creek Trails, which is connected to Kroc Center property.
Bike riders of all skill levels are welcome, and there are a few mileage options for today’s ride: there is a two mile ride, a six mile ride, and a newly added 24 mile ride to Millennium Park.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and is free, and those who wish to participate are required to wear a helmet that fits properly. In addition, participants will receive a buy-one-get-one day pass to the Kroc Center.
