Allegan County Sheriff’s Office Offering Boater’s Safety Classes

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — For those who want to learn how to operate a boat, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is going to host boater’s safety classes.

Courses are free to attend, and are open to anyone 12 years of age and older, and when the courses are completed, students will receive a Michigan Boater’s Safety Certificate.

Classes start in June and will be held at the following locations:

  • June 1, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Green Lake Calvary Church, 608 145th Ave., Caledonia.  No registration required. Bring a sack lunch. Snacks and juice will be provided by the A-Round Green Lake Association.
  • June 8, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Lake Doster CC, 116 Country Club Blvd., Plainwell. Students must bring a pencil and register online, as class size is limited to 100 people. A salad and sandwich bar will be available for $8 or students can bring a sack lunch.
  • June 19 and 20, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Saugatuck Yacht Club, 15 Park St., Saugatuck. Students must bring a pencil and register online, as class size is limited to 30 people.
  • June 22, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Sandy Pines Resort, 2745 136th Ave., Hopkins. Students must bring a pencil and register online as class size is limited to 50 people.
  • July 8 and 10, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., Fennville Public Library, 400 W. Main St., Fennville. Students must bring a pencil and register online as class size limited to 50 people.
  • July 10 and 11, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Saugatuck Yacht Club, 15 Park St., Saugatuck. Students must bring a pencil and register online, as class size is limited to 30 people.
