Child ID Kits Distributed Wednesday

KENT COUNTY, Mich– In an effort to help you be proactive about safety, the Kent County Sheriff’s Department is passing out child ID kits today.

The kits include emergency information, and let you do inkless fingerprinting as well as DNA swabbing. The FBI is working with the Sheriff’s Department on this initiative, because 800,000 children go missing every year.

From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department will be on hand at each location to answer questions.

Kits will be available starting at 11 at the following locations:

  • Ada Township Office (7330 Thornapple River Dr SE)
  • Algoma Township Office 10531 Algoma Ave NE, Rockford)
  • Alpine Township Office (5255 Alpine Ave NW, Comstock Park)
  • Cascade Township Office (2865 Thornhills Ave SE, Grand Rapids)
  • Gaines Township Office (8555 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Caledonia)
  • Grand Rapids Township Office (1836 East Beltline NE, Grand Rapids)
  • Plainfield Fire Department (4343 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids)
