MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A semi driver sneezing and reaching for a handkerchief resulted in a serious two-vehicle collision Wednesday.

At 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Edwin Newville of Rothbury was driving an empty log-hauling semi northbound on Mill Iron Road in Muskegon Township, ran a stop sign at Hall Road and collided with a Chevrolet SUV.

Newville later told the Muskegon Township Police Department that he sneezed, reached for a handkerchief and failed to see the stop sign at Hall Road.

The SUV driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital where no condition report was available later Wednesday.

The Muskegon Township Fire Department and Pro-Med Ambulance also responded to the crash scene.
