MUSKEGON, Mich. — After a one-hour pre-trial hearing in Muskegon County Court, Judge Ladas Hoopes ordered Anthony Casanova bound over and held for trial on a murder charge in the death of his infant son Tyler.

In court testimony, detective Tony Nanna said that during a three-hour interview Casanova confessed to hugging the two-month-old baby hard until he stopped breathing and then tossing the baby onto a bed until he became unconscious.

Casanova’s family says the detective was not being truthful.

Casanova had originally said that he tripped over the family dog and accidentally landed on the baby, causing the fatal injuries.
