KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Workers and retirees will gather at the Social Security Administration Building in Kalamazoo at noon on Monday to protest Governor Snyder’s tax policies.
Participants believe Governor Snyder and the Republican legislators let corporate special interests out of paying their fair share and placed a larger tax burden on the backs of workers and seniors. They also feel the administration has given away $1.4 billion dollars to corporations, and CEOs are pocketing that windfall rather than creating jobs. Meanwhile, the Homestead Property Tax and Earned Income Tax Credits have been subject to devastating cuts and senior pensions are now being taxed, squeezing millions of hard-earned dollars from the people who can afford it the least.
Participants will call for the Governor to pursue tax policies that will benefit working families, seniors and the Michigan economy.
