KENT COUNTY, Mich – Firefighters near Lowell are working to help a couple that lives along the Grand River Sunday evening, after rising flood waters came creeping into their home.

Crews were dispatched to a home in the 9000 block of East Fulton around 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening after a caller reported they were trapped by water.

We spoke to the fire chief on scene, who says the couple was alarmed after about 3 feet of water came into their home.  The couple does own a boat that was nearby, but were unable to get to it.

Crews remain on scene helping the couple and their dog get to safety.  They’re expected to be fine.
