Aussie-ome!! Adam Scott First Australian To Win Masters

Posted

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Adam Scott kept Australia on the edge of its seat, but at the end of Sunday’s Masters Tournament he was wearing his country’s first green jacket.

Scott edged out Argentinian Angel Cabrera in a playoff by making birdie on the second playoff hole to win the Masters.Cabrera just barely missed his birdie putt, leaving the ball on the edge of the cup.

With the win Scott becomes the second Australian to win a major championship in golf, but the first at the Masters. Geoff Ogilvy won the 2009 U.S. Open.

Scott paid respects to fellow Aussie, Greg Norman who has three runner-up finishes at Augusta.

“I don’t know how that happened,” said Scott. “Greg Norman has been incredible to me and all the young golfers in Australia. Part of this definitely belongs to him.”
