GRAND RAPIDS — Keep the champagne on ice.

The Grand Rapids Griffins will have to wait a little longer before clinching their first playoff berth since 2009 after falling to the Chicago Wolves 3-2 Wednesday night at Van Andel Arena.

Chicago opened the scoring 4:01 into the first period when Jordan Schroeder got credit for his 11th goal of the season. Just 11 seconds later, the Griffins tied it at one when Tomas Jurco scored a power play goal. It was Jurco’s 13th goal of the season and Calle Jarnkrok got credit for an assist. It was Jarnkrok’s third point with Grand Rapids. He has two games left with the Griffins before heading back to Sweden.

Chicago scored the next two goals in the period before Adam Almquist capped the scoring in the first period with his 10th goal of the season. Jan Mursak and Jeff Hoggan were credited with assists.

The Griffins will host Milwaukee Friday night.
