MUSKEGON, Mich.- Alicia Keech, a mother of five was killed in a fiery crash on Apple Avenue in Muskegon last Friday. Monday, her son, Lorenzo Martinez faced manslaughter charges in her death.
Investigators say Martinez confessed to grabbing the wheel of the car from the passenger seat, sending it head-on into a semi truck. Martinez’s mother died at the scene, his brother and brother’s girlfriend were also in the car and have been released from the hospital.
Police say Martinez has a history of mental illness and has been sent for a psychiatric evaluation.
If found competent, he will officially be arraigned and faces 15 years in prison.
