Healthy Easter Basket Goodies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grace Derocha, Registered Dietitian with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, was able to give FOX17 a couple of healthy Easter basket recipes for this holiday weekend. For many, a gigantic chocolate bunny, chocolate eggs, and of course some sugary Peeps, are devoured year after year.

However, Derocha has a few more options to help stuff all the little “easter bunny” bellies.

“Bunny Poop” is one option. Don’t be fooled by the name, because this snack combines dried fruit and chocolate.

Just take some dried golden raisins, cranberries and blueberries. Next, combine all the dried fruit in a bowl. In another bowl, melt chocolte or caramel. Then, drizzle the chocolate or caramel over the fruit. The snacks can then be refrigerared to harden.

The next basket option is “Homemade Dried Fruit”. Take some strawberries and blueberries, and preheat the oven to 350 Degrees. Then, core the strawberries, place on a baking sheet, and bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes.
