GRAND HAVEN, Mich – One person was taken to the hospital this morning after a fire at the North Shore Marina in Grand Haven. The fire started in a storage garage housing boats.
The fire started around 10:45 this morning. After Ottawa County Dispatch received multiple calls regarding an explosion at the North Shore Marina. Heavy Smoke could be seen streaming out of the building. There was damage to the North East side of the building. Three boats were heavily damaged while other boats sustained smoke and water damage.
Officials learned from a victim that, he was doing some electical work on a boat when he ignited a torch which caused the explosion. The victim was able to make it outside to safety. The victim was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital.
Grand Haven Public Safety is still investigating the fire.
