BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Police have recovered the 2005 Chevy Malibu belonging to Fred Byrne Thursday night.
The car was found just outside the Mark Twain National Forest at 6pm.
According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Department in Missouri the car was unlocked. Inside, authorities found Byrne’s wallet on the floor boards and his keys in the center console.
Deputies searched the perimeter for any sign of Byrne but called the search off for the night due to darkness.
Fred Byrne was last seen at approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, leaving his mother’s residence in Holland Township.
Byrne is a 49-year-old white male. He stands 6 feet 3 inches and weighs about 340 pounds, and has blond hair and blue eyes.
Byrne last mentioned he intended on stopping at Rivertown Crossings mall in Grandville on his way back home to Big Rapids to pick up a Valentines Day gift for his wife. He also left a note at his home stating that he would be home in time for dinner.
There has been no contact with any family or friends with Byrne, which is extremely out of character for him.
