KENT COUNTY, Mich. – Silent Observer released a 2012 annual report that revealed more than 160 arrests were made in Kent County last year thanks to tips from the public.
To be exact, 163 arrests were made.
More than 2,000 anonymous tips were received last year. Thanks to those tips, 201 cases were solved. Among those were shootings, stabbings, robberies and drug dealing.
While the tips that came into Silent Observer put some behind bars, it left others with money in their pockets. In 2012, $12,000 in reward money was given out.
The report also showed an 18 percent increase in tips from the public. Text messages also jumped by 32 percent.
Silent Observer began in 1996. Since that time, more than 2,500 cases have been solved.
