Woman Dies After Vehicle Runs into Muskegon River

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich.-  Muskegon County Sheriff officials say a woman was pulled from the Muskegon River after the vehicle she was driving went off the road and into the water.

It happened Saturday around 2:30 a.m. off of Creston in Muskegon Township. Investigators said a couple, parked at the dead end, witnessed the woman driving slowly down the ramp into the water, and called 911.

Rescuers said the woman was unconscious when they pulled her out of the water down river.

She was rushed to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead around 11:00 a.m.  She was identified as Theresa Duell, 54, of Muskegon.

The specifics of what led up to the deadly crash are still under investigation.
