MUSKEGON, Mich- The Muskegon Police Department released an incident report regarding the investigation into the unsafe conditions at an abortion clinic in Muskegon.
Officers with the Muskegon Police Department were originally called to Women’s Medical Services for a reported break-in. Once they got inside the building, they found what they call “unsafe” conditions. In the report, police said they found blood on the floor and walls in multiple locations, buckets with unknown fluid located in the operating room area, and blood dripping from a sink in a room a patient used.
The ceiling was also in need of repair. Ceiling tiles were rotten and water-soaked due to the roof leaking. Buckets of water were also found in multiple locations to catch water falling from the ceiling. Police also found biohazard bags on the floor and in closets, along with unsecured containers of hypodermic needles.
The Muskegon Police Department called in Muskegon Fire Marshall to take a look at the clinic. They decided to shut it down after finding a “considerable amount of fire safety and health issues.”
The building is to remain closed until a full inspection can be conducted by several different agencies, including the Fire Marshalls Office, SAFEbuilt Building Dept. Services and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
Officials have to give full approval before the clinic can reopen.
