GRANDVILLE, Mich. — The fire suppression system built into the facility at Bil-Mac Corporation may have saved the business.

Smoke filled the building just before 10 a.m. when a small machine caught fire at the precision machine products company at 2995 44th Street SW.

Employees evacuated the building as the automatic firefighting system engaged. Grandville Fire Chief Mike May credited the system with putting out most of the fire by the time fire crews arrived. Wyoming Fire Department units assisted.

Damage to the building was minimal, but employees were sent home for the day. There were no reports of anyone being hurt.
