HOLLAND, Mich. — An Ottawa County deputy was hurt when a suspect with a handgun resisted him.
There were no shots fired.
The incident began when loss prevention personnel at the Meijer at 3320 Westshore Drive called police around 2 a.m. Three people were suspected of stealing alcohol
With a description of the suspects’ vehicle, the deputy pulled over a vehicle on Riley Street, and a suspect showed that he had a gun on his belt. The deputy fought with the suspect and was hurt. Other deputies restrained the suspect, and the gun was confiscated.
The deputy was treated at a health facility and released.
The suspects, all 19-year-olds from Holland and Holland Township, face charges of retail fraud, firearm possession, and cocaine charges.
