STURGIS, Mich. – A woman arrested for drunk driving while she left her 2-year-old son at home alone was arraigned Friday.
Sturgis police said Hollyann McBride, 24, is being charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and child neglect.
According to police, on Dec. 6 McBride was driving erratically and crossing the center line down W. South Street. When patrol officers attempted to pull her over McBride allegedly sped up and blew through a stop sign.
Police eventually caught up with her and made an arrest when she stopped near Lakeview Avenue and South Street.
McBride’s blood alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit. Police also learned that night that McBride left her 2-year-old son at home unattended. The toddler was unharmed. He is staying with family.
This is the second time this year that McBride was pulled over for drinking and driving. She was arrested previously in July. During that incident she had a minor with her.
She is being held on a $6,500 bond.
