Tonight's forecast: Quiet weekend weather, bitterly cold air looms

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The forecast from FOX 17 Meteorologist Erik Kostrzewa: We got some sunnier skies today but clouds increase once again tomorrow. Drizzle will likely develop well after sunset on Sunday with light rain by the time we all wake up on Monday. Temperatures both tomorrow and Monday will be pretty mild in the 40s! It will be a short stint with the nicer temperatures as bitterly cold, arctic air filters in on Tuesday and sticks around through Thursday. Lake effect snow showers also will be likely along and west of US-131 Tuesday and Wednesday with several inches of accumulation likely.

Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy. Lows around 30. Breezy south winds at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday: Becoming mostly cloudy. A chance of drizzle by evening. Highs in the lower to middle 40s. Breezy with southwest winds at 10-20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph.

Monday: Cloudy skies. Periods of drizzle and light rain. Highs in the middle 40s.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. Snow showers especially during the morning. Light accumulations possible. Temps fall into the 20s. Breezy northwest winds. Wind chills in the lower teens.
