Tonight's Forecast: Lake effect develops with falling temperatures

WEST MICHIGAN — The forecast from FOX 17 Meteorologist Haleigh Vaughn: Lake effect snow has developed over West Michigan tonight due to dropping temperatures and steady winds. Temperatures are likely to drop into the teens overnight. Factoring in wind chill, feels-like temperatures could drop to single digits early Friday morning. On-and-off lake effect snow showers will be possible through the day on Friday, along with high temperatures in the upper 20s. Between tonight and all day Friday, snow accumulation will only range between 1" to 2". Widespread snow showers are likely to develop overnight Friday and early Saturday, which could produce another 1" to 2" of snow. Isolated higher amounts up to 3" are possible. A mix of sun and clouds are on tap for Sunday. Keep your rain gear handy for Monday! TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy, breezy and lake effect snow showers. Temperatures dropping into the teens. A flash, quick freeze is likely. Wind chill temperatures could dip to single digits. Winds west-northwest at 10 to 20 mph, individual gusts up to 35 mph.

FRIDAY: Variably cloudy with some lake effect snow showers. Highs only in the upper 20s. Northwest wind at 5 to 15 mph.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with the chance for some early morning snow. A widespread 1" to 2" is expected with isolated higher amounts up to 3". Some afternoon clearing is possible. Highs in the low 30s.

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy to partly sunny. Highs in the upper 30s.

MONDAY: Cloudy and windy with rain likely. Switching over to a wintry mix overnight. Highs in the middle 40s.

TUESDAY: Early morning light drizzle and/or flurries, otherwise mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 30s.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with late day wintry mix chances. Highs in the lower 40s.
