WEST MICHIGAN — The National Weather Service issued severe weather alerts for the lakeshore and some in-land counties Tuesday night.
The storm caused tornado warnings in Illinois before crossing Lake Michigan and are expected to hit our viewing area with gusts between 40 and 60 miles per hour. Wind gusts could damage trees, homes, and property. Officials say to stay indoors and away from windows as the weather rolls through your area.
Warnings were issued for Newaygo and Lake Counties until 9 p.m. and in Van Buren and Allegan Counties until 9:15 p.m.
Watches have been issued throughout the state until midnight affecting Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Calhoun, Cass, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Mecosta, Montcalm, Newaygo, Ottawa, St Joseph, and Van Buren.
