PORTAGE, Mich. — 4:30 p.,. update: The Portage Fire Department has confirmed with Fox 17 that all Portage Department of Public Safety units are clear, and South Westnedge is back open.
We previously reported that The Portage Fire Department (FD) announced Monday afternoon that they are closing South Westnedge has been closed from Schuring Road to Centre Street due to a main gas line being struck.
The Fire Depatment is currently on the scene of a natural gas leak, in the 7600 block of South Westnedge, where the gas line was approxiamately struck.
As of now, the road is closed in both directions. Portage FD will advise when the road is back open.
