'Substantial' house fire put out in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Fire Department Union posted pictures of a fire in a two-story house that burned Thursday morning.

Smoke was seen by firefighters when they arrived and several crews worked to stop the flames. Officials tell FOX 17 everyone inside was able to get out safely. Flames were damaged the first floor, while the second floor has some smoke damage. The American Red Cross has been contacted to help everyone who lived there.

Calls alerting rescuers to the fire in the 1300 block of Paris Avenue NE came in just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday. According to the post, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
