The University of Texas athletic department announced said that 13 football players have tested positive or are presumed positive for COVID-19.

This news comes on top of the two positive cases the university reported last week, school officials said.

In a statement to E.W. Scripps, Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine & Performance Allen Hardin said that the 13 players are isolating.

"Through contact tracing, ten more Football student-athletes are in self-quarantine, all of whom are asymptomatic at this time," Hardin said in the statement. "In addition, Texas has identified four Football student-athletes who have tested positive for the COVID-19 antibody."

On Wednesday, Kansas State announced that eight athletes have tested positive for COVID-19 out of the 130 they tested.

"Each student-athlete that tests positive is medically managed according to current local, state, national, and CDC guidelines, which begins with self-isolation for ten days and until the patient is without fever for 72 hours without medication, whichever takes longer," Wildcats officials said. "These guidelines would also include quarantine for any individuals known to have been in contact with someone who tested positive. The department will continue to work closely and communicate with county and university health officials to evaluate the situation and continue best practices."
