GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Ja'moni Jones scored 27 points to help lead East Kentwood to the 68-61 win over Oak Park at the Battle for I-96 at City High School.
"The past two games, I've gotten off to probably the worst start I've had in my four years," Jones admitted, "but to come out and finish strong this game, it feels great."
East Kentwood trailed by double digits in the first half but stormed back, specifically in the fourth quarter.
"I think what it says about our team is even when we aren't doing things right because it's early in the season, we're playing in our third game, they showed the competitive fire and guts to find a way to win in the fourth quarter," head coach Jeff Anama said.
The Falcons are now 2-1 on the season and will face Forest Hills Central on the road on Friday.
"The difference in this team is we have heart," Jones added, "everybody wants to play, everybody wants to win, we've got players, we can look down our bench and put anybody in."
