LANSING, Mich. — A nonpartisan organization held a news conference Thursday morning on a series of elections bills proposed by Michigan Republicans.

The bills are meant to change the way the state handles absentee ballots and early voting.

A number of voting rights groups, along with Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, oppose the bills.
