MEMPHIS, Tenn.— Lifelong Mary Free Bed patient Nate Denofre was born without legs due to a rare birth defect. He and his wife Christa have been paddling down the Mississippi River since early may to raise money for others with physical disabilities.

The couple reached Memphis, Tennessee on Saturday and met with Dale sanders, otherwise known as 'the Grey-Bearded Adventurer.'

In 2015, Sanders paddled the entire Mississippi River at the age of 80, making him the oldest known person to complete the journey.
Denofre signed Sanders's paddler's wall of fame before continuing his trip.

He hopes to reach the Gulf of Mexico sometime this month.
