HOLLAND TOWNSHIP — Two teenage bicyclists sustained minor injuries after crashing while trying to cross five lanes of traffic.

At 11:13 p.m. on Friday, 14-year-old and 18-year-old Holland residents were riding in the travel lanes of Butternut Drive.

Authorities say the teenagers did not have lights on their bicycles and tried to cross all lanes of traffic in the dark.

The bicyclists then ran into the side of a northbound car driven by a 29-year-old Holland woman, who wore a seat belt and was not injured.

The 14-year-old was hospitalized with minor injuries while the 18-year-old was treated on scene and released.

The crash remains under investigation by Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
