MARCELLUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two people riding a motorcycle have been taken to the hospital after they crashed into a pickup truck pulling out of a driveway.

This happened a little after 9 p.m. Saturday, August 8, on Marcellus Highway near Finch Road, in the vicinity of Goff Lake Campgrounds in Marcellus Township.

According to deputies, a 21-year-old Three Rivers resident, Christopher Hoeppner, pulled his pickup truck out of a driveway in front of an oncoming motorcycle.

25-year-old Olivia Hines, from Dowagiac, and 28-year-old Jordan Hawkins, a Marcellus resident, were riding west on the highway when they hit Hoeppner's truck.

The riders were not wearing helmets when they were ejected from the motorcycle; there is no word yet on the level of their injuries.

Hoeppner was wearing a seat belt during the crash, meanwhile Hawkins and Hines have been driven to an area hospital for treatment.

Alcohol was not a factor; this incident remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
