COLDWATER, Mich. — After firing gun at police, a Coldwater man died from what police described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police were called at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday to a house on a domestic situation and found a man barricaded in a bedroom, the Coldwater Public Safety Department reported in a release.

After hearing what they believed was the man loading a gun, officers got a woman and her children out of the house.

Than shots rang out and officers sensed bullets whizzing by them. They did not returnn fire.

While officers from Coldwater, the Quincy Police Department, and Michigan State Police troopers surrounded the house, they heard two gunshots from the house.

After trying to make contact with the suspect, police used a remote camera to find the man’s body in the bedroom.

Officials have not identified the man pending notifying family.

They say the man was under a court order to stay away from the woman who lived in the house.
