BELLAIRE, Mich. — Short's Brewing Company says it’s time for customers to stop mistreating employees.

In a Facebook post Thursday, the company says customers have sworn at employees, yelled, laughed in their faces, threatened negative reviews, name-called, belittled and brought them to tears.

“Our staff deserves better,” the post says. “We are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters and sons. We might not be yours, but we are somebody’s and we deserve the respect you would want for your own.”

The behavior has come amid changes during the coronavirus pandemic, and the restaurant asks customers to be patient while employees work to streamline their new system.

“We bust ours to give you a killer experience,” the post says. “We understand how frustrating waiting for food or dealing with lines can be, but we are also working to streamline our business levels with this new system. Changes have happened overnight and day by day for all of us.

“Remember that if you can’t be kind then we cannot help you.”
