Pedestrian struck by pickup on US-12

MILTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police responded to a crash on US-12 Friday evening.

The crash happened near M-60’s off ramp, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. They say a pickup truck struck a pedestrian, who was riding a non-motorized scooter, adding that the driver of the pickup stopped and called authorities after the impact.

We’re told the pedestrian was taken to Niles Lakeland ER for injuries sustained in the crash.

The pickup driver was later identified as Richard Krassow of Niles. The pedestrian was later identified as Samuel Gonzalaz of Niles. He was listed in stable condition at South Bend Memorial Hospital later Saturday.

The crash is under investigation.
