Update: Kalamazoo suspect receives multiple charges following yesterday's stabbing

Update on 4/13/2020 at 4 p.m.: The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office announced that they have submitted criminal charges on the person responsible for the crimes in the assault that Fox 17 reported on yesterday.

The Kalamazoo County Prosecutors Office has authorized criminal charges of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than murder and Motor Vehicle Theft. Due to the suspect's medical condition, no arraignment has yet place.

We will report the details of that arraignment when it takes place.

Sunday Evening: One suspect was taken into custody by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) after they stabbed one victim and attempted to steal a semi truck from the scene.

Sunday afternoon, KCSO deputies responded to a reported personal injury accident on west bound I-94 near the 81 MM in Comstock Twp. Upon learning of the stabbing via the dispatch center, they took the suspect into custody.

In addition to being in custody, the suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment of self-inflicted injuries. The victim in the case was also transported by ambulance to another area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

This case is still currently under investigation.
