Muskegon County Courts increasing public access

Court: Crime victims can collect if using sick time

MUSKEGON, Mich. — March 1, 2021 the public will have increased access to court operations according to the Muskegon County Courts.

Regarding hearings, proceedings and hearings will be held “to the maximum extent possible”and in-person hearings will be allowed on a “limited” basis.

There are some key dares to remember for jury trials: Circuit/Family/Probate Courts are scheduled to resume in-person the week of March 22 and District Courts are scheduled to resume in-person the week of April 19.

General Court Business hours are as follows:

· March 1st –March 12th - 10:00 am -4:00 pm, Monday-Thursday; Closed Fridays

· Starting March 15th - 10:00 am -4:30 pm, Monday-Friday; Open Fridays

Those who can are encouraged to exhaust virtual resources, in turn limited the number of people in the courthouse.

New protective measures such as new signage, installation of hand sanitizing stations, protective shielding, and physical barriers within court areas have been implemented.

Temperature checks alongside a brief health screening will be required for everyone entering the Hall of Justice.

The Prosecutor’s office and Sheriff’s office hours for the public will be daily from 8:00 am- 5:00 pm.
