DOWAGIAC, Mich. — Police arrested two suspects in a homicide case out of Dowagiac.
Investigators were called to the Hillcrest Apartments Thursday night for a man found dead from a gunshot wound. Police say the man and his girlfriend were in an argument on Monday, and the man was shot during the argument.
Investigators say the girlfriend and a roommate called a friend to help get rid of the body. Police say they ended up leaving the body in a dumpster at the apartments and left the state.
Officers tracked the girlfriend down to an apartment in South Bend, IN, taking the 39-year-old into custody. A 41-year-old woman staying at that apartment in South Bend was also arrested.
The Cass County Prosecutor's Office is preparing charges of open murder.
