LANSING, Mich. — The Potter Park Zoo welcome two more animals to its family on Sunday.
North American river otters Nkeke and Miles are now the parents to two pups. The zoo says both pups and mom are looking healthy.
The pups both weigh around 4 ounces and will open their eyes when they are around 10 days old. Nkeke will start swimming lessons with them sometime after they are a month old.
Zoo visitors can see Miles in the exhibit, but Nkeke and the pups will be under special care for a few months.
Nkeke came to Lansing in 2016 from Rhode Island and was paired with Miles, who was the first otter pup born at the zoo in 2013.
