SPRINGVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man in northern Michigan has been arrested on several charges in the death of his infant son.
Eight-week-old Xavier Russell was found unresponsive Sept. 28 at a home in Mesick, about 20 miles northwest of Cadillac. Xavier was taken to a hospital where he died shortly after arriving.
An autopsy was performed at Western Michigan University, which determined Xavier died from acute brain and spinal injuries and ruled his death a homicide.
On Thursday, 24-year-old Tyler Russell was arrested Thursday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and first-degree child abuse.
He is facing up to life in prison.
