GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Newaygo man is facing life in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.
Thomas Herman, 53, is charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Michigan State Police say they became aware of the assaults after a child reported being sexually assaulted by a family friend.
An investigation determined it had been happening since December. Herman was arraigned on the charges Monday and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
Each first-degree charge is punishable by up to life in prison. Second-degree is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
