CLARKSTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — So far this winter we haven’t had to dig out the shovel to clear our driveways too often, but the season is far from over, and if you want someone to do the work for you, there is an app for that.
These apps allow you to order snow removal for your driveway and sidewalks the day of. One of the apps, Quikplow, is developed right here in Michigan.
“All four founders are from the state of Michigan and all when to college at universities in Michigan as well,” said CEO/Founder of Quikplow Steve McIsaac.
McIsaac grew up in Clarkston, and currently lives in Lake Orion.

“The reason why we built the app is just calling around and trying to negotiate with 15 different people that takes a lot of time, and same with leaving voicemails especially during this time of year,” said McIsaac.
Quikplow provides snowplows and shoveling services for both homeowners and businesses. The price is calculated by how many cars can fit in a driveway.
“You’re going to be putting it in with car lengths four by two, as an avenger driveway in our minds and it is going to cost roughly 50 dollars if it snows zero to six inches,” said McIsaac.
Prices will likely vary based on what app you choose.
Plowz and Mowz are some of the leading apps in the industry, providing ETA times for when the work will be done. You can even place an order to help out family and friends.
There is also Shovler, where you can get snow removed from your car. Perfect for apartment living if you don’t own a garage or carport. They have a heavy east-coast presence, but do advertise as nationwide.
One of the best perks with using these apps is not having to sign into any service contracts for the season.
“We provide that convince factor to be able to order it when you want it, when you need it,” said McIsaac.
McIsaac says most of these apps will send you a picture when the work is done, including Quikplow.
“Give it a try, I mean there is nothing that is going to be hurt by it, I mean the worst that can happen is you can request a service and it doesn’t show up and you get fully refunded its a lot like a gas station model or a hotel where it preauthorizes funds,” said McIsaac.
These apps are also a great way to make a little extra cash. McIsaac says they have seen an uptick in the amount of people wanted to get to work either plowing or shoveling. They pay workers 85 percent of the profit from a giving job.
